GHOST bikes launched for over 20 years. It all began with two friends, a small garage and the idea of building just the type of bikes that are fun to ride and better than all the rest. The two founders, Uwe Kalliwoda and Klaus Möhwald, couldn't in their wildest dreams have believed that their company would become an international manufacturer with over 330 employees worldwide. It is a success story that can only work if you live your ideas and love your products.
In 1993, Uwe Kalliwoda and Klaus Möhwald presented the LECTOR, their first bike as part of their newly founded company GHOST-Bikes: it was a stylish, lightweight hardtail mountain bike and was a real gamechanger at the time. But how did the two come up with the name? Inspired by the film with the "hungry" Hannibal Lecter, they wanted to lend his name to their bike, which ate up kilometres and ascents. How the "o" got into Lector, however, remains their secret.
But it is a fact the LECTOR became a legendary bike and the foundation of their success. Now, all top products bear the LECTOR name. In 2016, GHOST presented the eagerly awaited new version of the LECTOR - this time in carbon. And unsurprisingly, the LECTOR again broke all the records and put fear into the competition again.
